V is for Velociraptor: Blogging from A to Z

V

I’m a fan of the movie Jurassic Park. Released in 1993, it still holds up. The visuals are lovely, the score is fantastic, and the breakout stars – the velociraptors – are delightful. Quick, ruthless, canny, capable of taking down a freaking T-rex.

The two sequels were less than stellar, so I really ought to be a lot more wary concerning the upcoming release of Jurassic World. Chances are that, in spite of promising trailers, it will be terrible. I’ll still hand over my cash to see it on the big screen, though, because velociraptors. I am aware that the actual creatures that walked the earth bore scant resemblance to those on the screen, but still: velociraptors.

Much was made of their intelligence in the first film, and that is clearly the focus here as well. I mean, they’re hanging out with Chris Pratt.

prattraptorThanks to the almighty internet and the magic of photo manipulation, we can imagine the close bond his character forged with them from infancy.

“Eyes on me.” Oh, they are, good sir. They are.

Throw in a motorcycle and rolled-up shirt sleeves for good measure. I am all in, you guys.

See how they cast their gaze on him as they run alongside? Velociraptors know where it’s at. Clever girls.

    TAKE MY MONEY!

The Jurassic Park book was really amazing even though the movies were lacking. But yes, I will be seeing Mr. Pratt no matter what.
